SL55 performance pack?
Heard it was now available from AMG, comprises:
- larger cooling intakes on front bumper
- additional oil cooler
- larger 380mm brake rotors
- recalibrated Sensotronic
- 19 inch AMG rims
not sure on price.

I have ordered a performance pack for a 55, due January and the dealer just phoned to say I must have the tyre pressure monitor option as a compulsory extra.
I guess this is a safety feature as the car is allowed to run to 300KPH before the speed restrictor cuts in.
The UK price of the Pack is £7234.00 plus tax @17.5 %
The tyre pressure monitor is a further £420..00 inclusive of tax, but I can't understand why they don't add it to the main price if it is a compulsory extra

IMO, the rims add weight, the bodykit adds nose weight, you're getting a harder ride, which is great for our "pothole free" UK roads. track advantage, forgetaboutit, a 2 Ton car handling like a Porsche? brakes, wait for a ceramic upgarde, that may come out in about 6 months at the most.
and spending 7K GBP, not dollars, not Euro's.
Does anyone see where i'm going with this? If you wanted a track car, get Carlsson suspension, Calsson UL rims, Carlsson lowering, and then see the difference compared to an AMG SL55 with p.p.
If its not for track use, then its true what they say, aesthetics is truly a case of personal preference...
See these threads,....

and maybe not relavent since SL55 has ABC, but still worth it for what Carlsson could do on the SL55...

Thanks for your comments regarding the performance pack.
If you take a car as a standard 55, then buy AMG or Carlsson rims, new tyres, and have it lowered, the cost will exceed the price of the performance pack.
I feel for what you get, the price is fair, and I basically wanted the wheels, and uprated brakes. The other bits are a bonus.
When I want a comfortable ride, I go out in another of my cars

Sorry, but I have no idea what's available in the States.
My dealer in England didn't know what was available, and I pressed them to phone the UK head office and finally after many phone calls they said the option was now available.
Then they didn't know how to order it and got it wrong a few times and finally got it right. Then they said I could not do a factory collection as the vehicle had to go to AMG to be modified, but then they said I could collect it from the AMG factory instead of the main factory at Bremen.
At the end of the day, all's well that ends well
