SL55 HARDTOP MAINTENANCE!
Hello Guys,
When I drive the car with the Hardtop closed, it makes some sounds which bother me.
I would like to ask you if there is a DIY tutorial on how can I maintain the Hardtop to avoid noisy sounds.

Don't know what your 'noises' are, but I use a product called rubber lube for all the rubber seals associated with both the hardtop and the trunk. I have no 'squeaks', and with the top up, the interior seems to me to be as quiet as our Audi A8 four door.

My new (to me) car could use some lube to quiet some of the rubber parts. Could you tell us who makes the lube you are using?

Mine creaks and groans a little. From everything I've researched some lube on the seals should quiet her right down. Probably doesn't hurt to check the torque on any top bolts that can be accessed once in a while as well.
On German cars I've always used Gummi Pflege. It's a high quality German weatherstrip/seal dressing, is recommended by most German manufacturers for protection of rubber seals and weatherstrip.
Of course, there are other products that work as well.

The product I have used is NAPA RuGLYDE Rubber Lubricant #765-1338. I think my friend paid about $15-20 for a gallon. I've had my 4-6 oz for about 5 years, and still have most of it left! I use it for all the door etc. seals on our cars about once a year.
It is also used for mounting tires at tire shops etc., or just to lubricate anything that is rubber.

mines been noisy as well lately and my independant tells me there is special MB grease just for tops. I will report if that makes a difference
