Looking for 19" wheels for 2003 SL55

It seems like last time I looked for wheels for the car, it was a very unique fitment and hard to find. I am no sure it it was due to the AMG brakes, the bore or the offset or all of the above, but I am looking for something in a 19" similar to the E63 design or CKL63 wheels below. Anyone know how to find something that might fit? Would prefer a staggered set up where the rear is dished more than the front.

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
look on ebay for r230 SL wheels, see what the stock wheels specs are. they are mostly 8.5 front, 9.5 rear most stock wheels will be all the same sizes and offset. You can use other style stock wheels but people that know about SL s will consider them out of place if you have them on the wrong car. You can find the match to you pic is probibly a SL550 with the optional amg style wheel. its not really used on a amg car but is a dress up for 550s.

Any reason you are looking for 19's over 20's?

Its not a show car for me, its a drivers car. it came with the standard 18" AMG wheels with a lip, 19" wheels where the spoke extends to the edge of the lip should look plenty big enough. I know its personal preference, but I don't always feel like bigger is better. While 20s might look better, they rarely perform better, braking, acceleration, cornering, there is just a sacrifice. Its the same reason I would never put 20s on my M3 (no one that is truly interested in performance puts 20s on an M3, in fact, if you put 20s on an M3 you are pretty much made fun of) or my 350z way back. Same thing with Karting. I race karts, and sure, someone could throw on the 6" wheel for looks, but no one does if they are really worried about performance.

I agree, and that was my assumption, as I am in the same boat, sort of. I am trying to sell the 20's that came on my car. There are a bunch of decent looking wheels on eBay...for reasonable money...

I am going to sell my 19" AMG if interested. I went to 21/20" ADV, so will sell the 19" soon. Wheels and tires are new. Some photos in my SL65 folder here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/102810426@N07/sets/

Plan to do some real good photos when I get back from vacation.

It's funny some 18 inch wheels look like 20's and some 20's look like 18's
Just depends on the style, my S 600 wheels are 18 inch and they look as
big as my SL63 20 inch rims. I think the more filled in the centre the bigger
they look. Ideally you want 18's that look like 20's so you don't compromise
the nice ride you get in a 55.

You are exactly right. When I got my 21" ADV on, they really didn't look that much bigger than my 19" AMG wheels. In fact the 20/21" set up made the car look a little thicker in my opinion, even though I made sure overall diameter of wheels & tires remained about the same as with the 19".

If interested, I took photos of my 19" for sale. Brand new AMG from my red SL65 from MBZ dealership when I bought the car, however since I am a show car guy I wanted big ADV05 21" wheels. So, my new 19" AMG are now for sale with new Pirelli PZero tires. Rear wheels are 9.5" wide ET48, with 285/30/ZR19 tires, and front wheels are 8.5" ET35.5, with 225/35/ZR19 tires. Perfect in every way. Photos in the link below, however I would recommend seeing them in person to see how nice they are. I took quite a few photos below in my back yard, however I keep the wheels in my spare room inside my house So if you want additional photos, please allow time for me to get them outside again. These are over $7K new, and asking $3K. Please contact me at ciao4u2@aol.com if interested. Thanks.

I probably should have clarified a few things. I am currently running the smoke color SL65 19" 5 star split spoke design. Looking to get a set of 19" wheels that are a little more modern with the spoke going all the way to the edge of the wheel, giving it a larger look. I just got a set of new tires, so I don't need tires. Would prefer a 5 star design AMG of some sort in 19" with gun metal and silver color.
