I'm glad you finally sold your car. Just curious though, do you think that your car was advertised as a dragster and appeared to have been built for drag racing has anything to do with why you had to give it away? Maybe fairly priced/sold given it's history? Personally, I wouldn't even ever consider buying a car that's done time at the drag strip no matter how cheap it was. That just has to be really hard on the car and exact a huge toll on a lot of the cars components....

Yes, it's a shame. Such a nice car and not worth squat anymore. I'm not whining, but it is disappointing to lose $10k in value in a year, and not even own it long enough to enjoy it.

I don't think the slow sale had anything to do with the car being modified and raced. I actually contacted ttboost about the car when I was searching for my 65. My reasoning for not getting it was because it didn't have an option I wanted and the miles where slightly higher than I would have liked. The car was/is really clean and nicely modified. Sorry for the short sale.

It doesn't matter what you have got, your gonna take a hit when it is time
to sell. At the beginning of the year I had a serious cash problem, so I
sold my 10 month old 63 bi turbo, retailed at 128 grand, the repayments
were killing me. I was offered 64k from Mercedes and 70k in part ex.
The only way to get more for it was to put it in part ex for a SL65 which
was up at 39 grand about 55k in dollars. I then got 79k, but it paid off the
finance and gave me a SL65 and 5 grand in my pocket. Apart from the
acceleration on the 63 with that gearbox, I preferred my 65, just got to
keep it on the road, just hope I will be able to afford it.

In the UK we pay way more for cars than the USA. Sound 8 that 39k is actually a little over 60k at today's rate and a few months back would have been 65k as the rate was over 1.6 to the dollar. The 128,000 GBP a few months back would have been around 210,000 USD for an SL63. I am not sure what the cost is in the US but I can bet its a lot less.
