Exhaust bark
Has anyone with a 65 changed rear boxes to smaller or high performance
ones, how much louder than stock is it. Mine have been removed, which is
slightly too loud, it needs a tiny amount removed.

I have removed the rear mufflers on my SL65 and I think it sounds great... Definitely not "loud" unless you WOT, even then... Actually I wish it was a little louder haha! I'm thinking about going catless but I don't want to deal with the hassles (smell, check engine light, law)
Yes, I have Meisterschaft GTs (only) on mine. No headers, nor CATs removed. Impressive - even with the TTs, it gurgles at idle then roars when stepped-on. Not cheap (~$2600), but I found them to be worth it.
BTW - a M5 (V10) owner stopped me recently asking about my exhaust. He too has Meisterschafts; however, they have a high-pitched sound to them. He appears not too happy with his sound but loved mine. He couldn't understand why the difference...

If you plan on going catless then I'd just get rid of them and do a muffle delete. But if you do both muffler delete and catless downpipes then the car gets really loud, sometimes its nice to have, sometimes it can give you a headache which is why I did cutouts to pick mufflers or not lol

I've got a short one that includes the car starting and driving a short distance in my cul-de-sac. I believe it needs to be shortened more in order to post, I'll check.
I ran the NCCAR at a MBCA sponsored event this weekend - 2+ miles with some nice curves, esses, and a 1/2 mi straightaway. No videos, that I'm aware of, however, several people were impressed with the sound of the Meisters. I was helmeted and couldn't hear too much but what I could hear sounded nice.
There's a trade-off, of course. There is a "drone" when driving at speed. I like it (brings back memories of my younger days with glass-packs or my old Boss 302 with Hooker Headers!). That said, I would not want the car any louder than it is now - I suspect my girlfriend might take issue with weekend trips if it were louder plus I'd find it annoying.
Let me check on posting my video. If you have any suggestions let me know! Thanks.

Thanks guys, I agree it's not that loud, but when you cruise about 50 to 70
mph it makes a constant noise, acceleration and cruising at 100 is fine.
I have sensitive ears, they pick up every squeak and rattle, anyway I have
booked it in tomorrow to have some small straight through boxes fitted,
it might make it more tuneful, I'll let you know.
