SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: SL55 AMG: Rolling Thunder!
I picked up a new SL brochure, while looking at a '55 SL 300 Gullwing and of course sat in the new SL500 again.
The Brochure makes ref. to the delayed intro of the SL55 AMG. This model is a raging torrent of power, a supercharged V8.
The SL55 AMG will be the most powerful Mercedes production engine ever: 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds
469 HP
516 LB-FT of torque
5,439 cc V8 supercharged
MB dealership Autohaus in Pompano is having a SL500 intro/celebration thru Friday.

Did you order a new SL55 AMG ?
I want to test-drive the 2003 SL500 first. I understand that it provides for 25mm more leg room. My previous 2001 SL500 was disappointing. My 6'2" frame could not get comfortable in it. Only had it for 3 months & 3000 miles.
So there is a remote possibility, that I might order a SL55 for the 2005 model year - the RRRROLLING THUNDERRR.
In the meantime I love my 2002 CLK55. I am off to the Cape and Epcot for a 600 mile trip tomorrow.
This is the first extended trip with the 2002 CLK55; the best car built by MB, since Karl Benz patented his three-wheeled motorcoach in 1886.
No to Bear's & No Jam's questions. Sorry, I got to get a digital camera!

BTW: Let me know if you come across racing someone on your 600 miles road trip!
