Congrats!

All I know is I have the first spot at my dealer, and its comming late 2004 as a 2005 model year. It willl also have some two tone leather options like Black and Silver and Blue and Black.

I love my SL55, so I hope the SL65 AMG is as fun to drive and the exhaust sounds sporty like the SL55 AMG

It better have DVD Nav, and Sat. Radio!

Any idea of cost?

The question you should be asking is how will they be allocated.....

If the European reports are correct, it sounds like we may only see 200 in the US. We should get an idea when the CL65's hit the ground. It is strange that the SL65 has not been shown yet if we are going to have them by the end of 04. The CL65's were shown a long time ago and are still not here....

Not sure I would sell that SL55 just yet.

55-BEAR,

i'd be interested in your 2004 SL55.

let me know when you're ready.

you're in hillsboro beach?

when i'm in S FL and commuting between lauderdale and boca in my 2002 clk55, i often take scenic A1A, along which i particularly enjoy hillsboro mile.

the holdiay lights were super this year, especially in the vicinity of gallant lady.

I'm sure you two have heard the rumor (or not) about SL getting a slr nose in 05. But your cars are due at the end of next year. Why not wait a few extra months. Of course you may not care but it'd be great if you can ask your dealers for their opinions on the facelift. I'm sure a lot of current sl owners would appreciate it, including myself. Tks.

Ive had a different German car salesman tell me there would be no changes for 1+ years to a certain model even though i knew different. 2 months later the updated model was on the lot. I asked him and he claimed ignorance. Basically, CERTAIN salespeople will tell you things to make a sale today. They worry about tomorrow's sale tomorrow. Info may be had on the internet much quicker usually.

A Heads Up for anyone with a deposit on the SL65!!!

Just saw on the AMG Club web site:

One guy in the UK got a call from his dealer to Spec his CL65...Base Price 145,000.00 BP!!!
That comes in around $268,000.

If the dollar keeps dropping look for it to be even more by the time it gets here.

I have to say that price sounds insane, I would double check with another dealer to make sure the MSRP is correct.

The price is not consistant with MB product line at all.

My bet is around $175,000.00 U.S.

Time will tell

$278 thousand does seem unreasonable. if the sl55 is in the 120 thousand dollar range, i find it completely stupid to spend an extra 150thousand for an extra 100+hp.
im sure the car will arrive in the states prob look for early 2005 with a price tag in the 160-170 thousand dollar range. I doubt they would incorporate the F1 nose, because then those with the SLR will trade in their supercar for a roadster with aprox the same hp.

For $268,000 I'll give the Aston Martin Vanquish a try.

That's not much less than the SLR.

Whether or not it's a Good Thing, the Dollar has dropped 33% against the Euro since the SL was first introduced in 2001, with further falls predicted.

If Mercedes were to pass all that currency loss onto you guys, an SL55 would be something like $145k + tax but up to now, the price has been somewhat shielded from the underlying currency fluctuation.

Keep in mind that UK price quoted here (£145k) include sales tax.

At $286,000.00 I will keep my SL55 AMG and be very happy.

I still think that price sounds like a one off custom price from AMG to build big money customers anything they want today.

I can tell you one thing, if the SL65 AMG comes to the U.S. for $268,000.00 I will not be one of the owners!!!

I just could not justify that amount of money for a V12 when I could keep my SL55 AMG and buy a used Bentley Arnage T or 360.

price of sl/cl 65
all of you must be sensible people to be able to afford such cars, so how in the world can you even fleetingly entertain the idea that this car will cost 260 plus. given market conditions, the competition among similar cars and demographics, the price will be around 160-175, and unless the euro spikes dramatically from here, that won't be a meaningful factor.
