Find an Indy shop

To do this right, you need a filter, pan gasket, electrical connector replaced, and about 6-8 quarts of fluid. Not to mention a way to measure the fluid correctly.
I do my own, but would expect a good independent shop would charge about $250 to do this. Shop around.

buy the filter, pan gasket, and electrical connector from oediscountparts.com, huskerparts.com or amazon. You will need more than 6-8 quarts to do a full flush. You will need more like 10. Just order a case of shell ATF 134. This meets MBs newest ATF spec. Don't use anything that doesn't meet the new spec, like valvoline maxlife that reads 'suitable for.' Suitable for and meeting the spec is 2 very different things. You can get an entire case of shell 134 for about $90 shipped on ebay.

To do the flush is pretty easy. You basically take of a tranny line and just keep dumping fluid in the tranny until new comes out the line. You will need to get a tranny dipstick (about $15) to check the level.

You definitely want to change the filter and pan gasket, the connector is up to you although it's not a bad idea. I replaced the pump and TQ in my transmission and drained every once of fluid while I had it out. I replaced the fluid with Valvoline synthetic and couldn't be happier.

I would immediately get that valvoline synthetic out, unless it is Valvoline SYNPOWER ATF 134. If it is ANY other valvonline it will appear to work fine for awhile, but you are dramatically shortening the life of that tranny and new TQ. You also didn't get every last drop out unless you also flushed out the tranny cooler and the lines.

ONLY USE A FLUID THAT IS ON THIS LIST!!!! THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT MEET THE MERCEDES CURRENT SPEC FOR TRANSMISSION FLUID!!!!

Member Glyn M Ruck helped develop the current tranny fluid spec standard. Read this thread & his comments in regards to using other fluids like synthetic valvoline maxlife, which claim 'suitable for' on their label but are in fact NOT suitable since they come nowhere close to meeting the current spec.

722.6 ATF

Also, the connector is like $8. If you're going to skimp on $8 then you need to own a different brand of car. The connectors go bad and tranny fluid wicks up the wires and ruins the tranny computer when that happens. $8 is cheap insurance.

I own a repair shop, believe me when I tell you I flushed it, every drop. I have a couple friends that own Euro only repair shops and they use maxlife with no issues in the five speed tranny. That being said I used 134.
