2014 SL63 oil use
Hello, I have noticed over the last few thousand miles my 63 is using 1-2 litres of oil every 400-600 miles. The MB dealer assures me this is common but other non MB mechanic friends believe there is an issue.
I have a black SL63 just got up to 18k miles. Always serviced and wants for nothing.
Any help or advice would be great

GAD, are you in the US? IF so, I would call MBUSA and see what their take is on the oil use if you don't get a response with any sense of urgency from the dealership. If MBUSA responds with that is within the parameters of normal usage, I would get an attorney and go after them. Lot's of lawsuits from manufacturers trying to sidestep liability from a design flaw. The engines are expensive so they will not want to replace.

I have a 2014 E63 S which I believe has the same engine and it isn't burning any oil at all. I think you should push them, that seems like extraordinarily high oil consumption. I haven't seen any threads on oil consumption with the M157 for this year on the 212 forum either that I can recall.

The problem is that anything above 800 miles / qt is considered normal and will not be considered for any kind of MB paid remediation. My 65 does about 1800 to 2000 miles / qt depending on my driving.
