I have an 05 SL65 AMG which is acting very odd. There 2 separate problems;
Firstly the rear electronics battery has a drain on it, My meter shows it can be anywhere from 100mA to 750mA, and the next morning the rear battery is below 10 volts. I have had 3 separate NEW batteries in there, which all work fine elsewhere, so I can say 100% the battery is fine.
It was fine for the first 6 months I had it (I bought it used) and then it started acting up. I am not in a position to be able to put a charger on it every night as I park it on the street, as this is all the dealership can suggest.
Secondly, 90% of the time The COMMAND unit/stereo comes on for about 30 seconds and then shuts off saying "System Unavailable", the other 5% of the time it comes on and music cuts in and out, and the final 5% works the whole drive. I know that regardless of the accessory battery condition this happens.
My thoughts are that there is a defective component in the MOST circle that is causing the radio not to work AND draining the battery. Or the battery drain is coming from a Boomerang GPS tracker located somewhere in the car (I believe it is called LoJack in the USA) I had this problem with mum's BMW.
Any help would be great, I do have a very good working understanding of electronics, and can repair most of this myself if I know where to start and how to get access to the hidden components.
Thanks
PS: The only reason I haven't traded it in yet is because it drives unbelievably well.

I would start with low effort things to unplug. Possibly unplug the headunit and the amp overnight and continue measuring voltage.
