Rusty lugbolts - out with the old, in with the new

Couldn't stand the rusty lugbolts on my SL63 any longer. Bought a new set, and prepped them like this:

- brushed with a wire wheel
- cleaned with naptha
- 2 coats of Rustoleum high temp silver paint (heads only)
- baked in the oven for 45 minutes at 450
- lithium grease on contact surfaces and threads

One note: the Rustoleum high temp silver is a bit bright. Depending on your wheels, you might want something a bit darker.

Nice, easy project and man, what a diff! Hope these will last a while. Going to brush the old ones now to see how well they clean up.

Grease on the contact surface I wouldn't do. You want that to seize. You will stretch the bolt more for the same amount of torque. You are not the first one to do it though.
