SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: SL Black Series Style Hood
Seems like a reasonable price. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, so the body shop took a closer look and the hood is in pretty good shape. They did mention that where the cut-offs are for the new vents/honeycomb area are a little too flexible. In other words, the hood is not as structurally solid and reinforced as it should be. They're going to make it a little more rigid and clean it up so it looks a little nicer, but so far so good. Next step is fitting it on the car to look at how it lines up to see how much additional touching up it needs. Will keep you posted.
You may be right, but that's why I'm sharing this modification for this specific hood. Might work out, might not, we'll see.
Best,
Ron
Good luck, i like the mod, and would love to see it completed, one way or the other
1. Hood adjustments are all the way down and the hood is resting on the rubber seal within the engine compartment.
2. Vent openings on the hood are 1” off from the front of the hood to the openings. This is noticed when the hood is up. The Mercedes emblem area is not centered too.
3. The two areas for the grille opening are very weak for the lack of material. When closing the hood if not careful these areas are going to crack, exposing cracks on the finish side.

If you're paying for labor to repair all of these issues, there is no way modifying/repairing/installing this hood will be less expensive than modifying a factory one.
I totally understand if you want to keep the factory one untouched for resale purpose, but if that's the case, I highly recommend buying a used one, and modifying it.
To save you some time and effort, the maker of the FG hood will not be able to properly fix it, because even if they replace it for you, they will send you an identical part, as they use one mold to make them...
