R230 2007+ SL65 AMG - Warranty Options
I just went through the process of researching and purchasing an extended warranty for my 2007 SL65 AMG with 70,200 miles. From other posts on this forum, I found 4 candidate warranty sources: Zurich, Fidelity, Easycare, and USAA. I'm a vet, so USAA is an option for me. From reading their websites, and calling their customer service numbers, this is what I found out:
Zurich
Zurich
- Customer Service phone# 888-835-5063
- Customer Service hours of operation are 7:30am CST to 7:00pm CST
- Zurich does not sell direct to customers; customers must purchase through a dealership
- Customer can call Dealership Finance Mgr for quote over the phone
- Requires in-store inspection of the vehicle prior to purchase
- Closest dealerships to Austin, TX were in Waco, TX and Killeen, TX
- Customer Service phone# 800-760-7791 X-2
- TotalCare Warranty is the best package, and the only package that covers high risk SL65 parts like the pneumatic suspension (ABC)
- Easycare does not sell direct to customers; customers must purchase through a dealership
- Customer can call Dealership Finance Mgr for quote over the phone
- Requires in-store inspection of the vehicle prior to purchase
- Closest dealership was in Austin, TX
- Finance Mgr quoted me two warranties:
- 24 months/24,000 miles
- $7,880.00 or 10% down + $625.50 for 12 months
- payment plan includes interest
- 30 months/30,000 miles
- $8,686.00 or 10% down + $691.00 for 12 months
- payment plan includes interest
- Both warranties have $250 deductible, and are transferable/renewable
- USAA was 100% on-line, including quote
- USAA sells direct to customers
- Two warranties available - 12 mo/12k and 24 mo/24k
- 24 months/24,000 miles
- $3,181.47 or $530.24 x 6 months
- 0 interest payment plan
- $0 deductible, and transferable, but not renewable
- Customer Service phone# (800) 327-5172
- Platinum Warranty is the best package, and the only package that covers high risk SL65 parts like the pneumatic suspension (ABC)
- Fidelity does not sell direct to customers; customers must purchase through the original dealership where the car was sold new
- Customer can call Dealership Finance Mgr for quote over the phone
- Requires in-store inspection of the vehicle prior to purchase

MBWorld Fanatic!
Huge price difference there, good info.
I wonder if USAA will balk at all on coverage when a high end part goes out that they aren't used to seeing on most cars.

if it doesn't cover ABC, then what's the point of having an extended warranty
