SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: 2003 Mercedes R230 SL55 SRS B1000 Airbag control module
The independent mechanic said the module itself is over $2,100.00. Online, I found as cheap as $1,600. Plus, it would involve 2 hours of labor to rip apart your center console area to access the module underneath the radio to replace.
I was able to find a used one on Ebay for $141 that matches the brand, quarter it was built (Q2) , part number (001 820 73 26), and a serial number very very close to mine. The vehicle it was installed on never had an airbag deployment, so I don't have to send it to some independent shop to reset it for $50. If you do buy a used one, it needs to be of the same options (airbag wise) for your vehicle, make and model. Otherwise, people say it won't work.

After I installed it, the SRS was still on. I brought the vehicle to an independent mechanic to clear all the codes on the module (codes were probably triggered when it was removed). After that, the SRS light went away. Saved over $1500 - $1900 in parts, not including labor.
Hope this helps others that have the same problem.
Thanks!
My question is did you have a VIN number DTC error as it was from a different car and the SRS light remained on, as I am worried it might not work now?
