SL55 with April USA Delivery? True or Not???
Today someone has listed an SL55 AMG complete with VIN on Ebay stating an April 29, 2002 delivery. Skeptical! Can this be real? Check it out:

This has got to be a Euro Spec car getting converted to US...note it lists 860 Television Tuner as a feature...to my knowlege this illegal on a US Spec car. Little confusing too...at the top it lists Silver Exterior but below lists Obsidian Black...
Run Away! Interesting that this is a no reserve auction...and appears that bid price is actual purchase rather than a premuim over MSRP for right to purchase.

The vin is stated as VIN # WDB2304741F009541
Thats a "european" style VIN number, not a US one.
WDB = used by Daimler benz - WVW for istnace is used by VW
230 = R230 SL
474 = SL55. (possibly 4 = soft-top, 74 = AMG 55)
1 = ???
F = bremen factory
0009541 = unique range serial number, unique on the R230 SL

According to the dealers computer system
the SL 55 is due to debut in june of this year, if that were true, dealers should be getting build dates in may....which they should be able to see as of now as their system shows build dates for the next two months or so

TV tuner too!
Interestingly it also featured a TV tuner option. Curious if it would work on NTSC standard. Apparently vehicle still in customs so seller probably doesn't know what limitations faced in use of same in USA.

Actually he still didn't have the car yet
It is common on E-Bay for sellers to use photos of other vehicles, especially when they are still waiting receipt of the vehicle. I believe the seller stated the vehicle was still in customs so it isn't likely that he had a chance to take photos yet. (Of course anyone purchasing would want to make sure funds were protected until vehicle actually became available. If the car wasn't properly certified it could well have to be shipped back.)
