C&D Responds to reader mail on SL600 0-60
In the June C&D editors answered readers' mail regarding the 0 - 60 mph times measured for the SL600. The mag's quick answer was that the measurement was real, and suggests 50 hp more than MB states. They also brought up the fact that it is the same engine as in the Maybach (which is rated at 543 HP). No mention of the possibility that MB supplied a ringer for test purposes...
Also, regarding the SLR performance figures, C&D pointed out that they used MB's claimed performance numbers, and did not test it themselves. Perhaps MB is conservative on this as well??
