Loss of power on the move!

2003 SL55 AMG

When hammering along by means of prodding the accelerator pedal on spirited drives, I get moments of loss of power. I keep moving along but pressing the pedal doesn't provide acceleration, then suddenly, back to normal. Sounds like TPS failure; right? Well that's a fault I got on STAR, so bought a new accelerator pedal(actually first bought a used one), but still get the failure!

Will be taking it back on STAR. Really need help on this.

Any suggestions?

TPS is likely a Throttle issue (often re-seating the cable at the Throttle body can fix this). also, could be a "bypass throttle" failure

probably worth confirming that the inter-cooler pump is functioning properly as well.

Spot on.

Hooked up STAR & according to my INDY, the inter-cooler pump is not functioning properly as he is getting high temperature readings. He also states he's done quite a few of these.

Now have to find part number & where best to buy; should this best be a Mercedes Genuine part!?

Appreciate your input.

buy the bosch 010 pump. it is the upgraded factory pump (same part number as stock, last three digits are 010) you can find it online for $100 or so shipped

just google

"0392022010"

and you should find a local seller (there are many ebay sellers that offer them new in the box for a competitive price).

Cheers,
Chris

Yes, found it in the UK for £108 + delivery.

Was quoted an estimate by Indy around €300!
