roofless SL

I have both E55 and SL55. I was speculating as to what the weight loss would be in making my SL55 a fair weather car only by removing the roof and attendant motors and mechanicals. I reckon at least 150 kg. Has anyone else done it or have an idea?

Do you plan on drag racing the car or something? Why would you want to do this?

Sure it's doable but if your not drag racing I'm not sure it would it would do much for you. The weight savings won't really be noticeable on regular roads ways. A simple a pulley upgrade and tune would do more for speed than removing the roof.

My SL55 is already a low 11 sec car. I have a high 11 sec E55 for rainy days. The SL is a toy not transportation and it never goes out in the rain in any event, I was just wondering if anyone had done it. It can all be re-installed.
