New to Board - Will be Looking for Advice/Coaching

Purchased my first MB today, an 08 SL 55 AMG with 26k one owner miles, Black with all options excl the 030 package.

Been a BMW and US muscle car guy all my life but finally got the SL bug. 1 too many cars as a result of today's cash ouflow (an M Roadster) but just couldn't pass up the SL deal.

Going to have a lot of questions. Look forward to your input and coaching.

Thanks

Bill

Welcome

I’m new too. I gave up waiting for a black with 030, and now have a black 06 that I’m starting to mod (looking to get another 60, or so, whp).

I look forward to learning, along with you.

83mm pulley and tune you'll be right around 50HP. I'd also add in a TCU tune.

Doing that is safe with no worries over stock on longevity. If you wanted another 30 to 45HP throw on some headers and remain about as safe as stock as possible and be pushing a good extra 80-90HP with everything.

I did the same thing. 83mm pulley and RaceIQ tune got me around 530 HP and around 600 TQ. These are guesses as I haven't put it on the dyno but I can certainly feel the difference.

Anything smaller than 83mm pulley and you have to look at improving the IC cooling.
