05 SL55 AMG Radio Issues
I can't find any info on the radio in this car. Am having problems with the radio not coming on unless I turn on the car and then turn it off and remove the key then turn it on and start it. Most of the time my radio will then work but if I don't go thru with this process it won't come on ever. I can't program channels or adjust the balance, base, treble, but the scan works. Some one told me I have to reboot it and I disconnected the batteries but it did not help. Is there a software upgrade or what? Any one have any ideas I would appreciate some feedback.

Your Comand system issues sound like the ones I and many others had. There were a couple of threads about this around 10 years ago, Both my 2005 SL and 2006 S did this at random times when starting the car. There were firmware updates included on the Navigation annual update discs that fixed these problems. As I recall after installing the 2007 Nav update the symptoms on my cars were permanently cured. I wonder if these updates were never installed on yours.
Just for info there was also a firmware problem in some 2009 SL Comand systems, the first use of the NTG2 in the SL. I had one of those as well. That fix was more involved, the affected cars required a complete firmware reinstallation at the dealer using the STAR system.

Thanks for the info. I have never had the car into the dealer but it looks like that is where it will have to go to get this issue resolved.
