2004 SL55 AMG "Electric Consumers Offline"

Is there a common consensus on what can cause this message/error? The car does this whenever I start it, then after driving/idling for about 20 minutes I get the "Electric Consumers Back Online" message and the top can finally go down, heated seats finally work etc.

I have replaced the battery and keep the car on a maintainer....yet even doing this the car has to run for a while before it allows all electric consumers to operate.

Your rear consumer battery in the trunk is dying. It has nothing to do with the starter battery under the hood up front.

You need to replace the rear battery. Your dealer parts department probably has one in stock. It is an easy swap.

Two new batteries

I just purchased car three weeks ago. I put two brand new batteries in. The consumer battery (trunk) is an AGM type which in my opinion are superior
I get consumers off line for about two minutes first start every day. I always plug tender in overnight.
I don’t know if this is normal.

I had this issue earlier this year, same symptoms.
Turns out I needed to replace my alternator. Smelt like burnt plastic under the hood.
I was driving and I lost power to the SBC.. very scary! Lucky I was in traffic and exited quick!
You might be lucky and just replace the voltage piece.

That is abnormal.

Measure the voltage on the rear battery cables just before you start the engine. If it is above twelve volts, then the vehicle power supply module is suspect. If it is below, then the voltage regulator on the alternator is suspect.

Where is the power supply module, i have the same issue and measured 12.45 V at the battery in the trunk, I took also measured the voltage while it was running at 14.3 V. seems like good voltage but i didnt know about the Power Supply Module.

The power supply module is located in the left side of the trunk. It is mounted on the inside of the wheel well in front of the battery. You can not access the module without removing part of the trunk lining.

I would use Star Diagnosis or other diagnostic device to see what voltage the module is reading on "circuit 30".
