2005 SL55 - availability
My local dealership has two available!! Are people losing interest? Is it because of the SL65? Economy? No longer a novelty? All of the above? I am tempted to buy one. How's the resale doing now?

SL55, Aston Martin DB7
resale
I have monitered the sales and the avalibility of the SL 55 in Canada and check regularly for sales and value .
At most there are 6 - 7 SL 55's (used ) in Canada and 2 - 3 new ones that I know of and if there is any loss of interest it is not showing up in vlaue and loss of value anywhere in Canada .
A good used SL 55 is running 157,000 - 165,000 where as MSRP depending on options is 173,000 - 179,000.
I bleive the car is going to hold its value regardless of the SL 65 but that is from my vantage point.

I spoke with a sales man before in california and he did mention that by this time the novelty would have worn off. Im starting to see a number of SL55's popping up used in Hong Kong even.. mostly black in color. Not a bad deal here since the diff between new and used is aroun 65K.

what , that must hurt de-valuing by so much. anyway it gets to the point of diminishing returns. 0-100 in 4.9secs to approx 4.5 seconds in real life driving situation is not really a big deal.
I could not justify SL 55 because I will never use it fullest extent, hence to me the extra gain as compared to extra price is less return, the WOW factor will be priceless though !

I have spoken with a dealer in AZ as well as Beverly Hills and both are saying that to place an SL55 order...you are looking at 1 year delivery time.
There may be some used ones out there, but the dealers are saying that supply weaker than demand! That should keep our money safe. Demand is great because the car is great!

Sadly, the SL55 is slightly old hat now. Secondhand prices here are softening, reflecting weakening demand. It has, after all, been around for 2 years in most markets, more in others. Still a great car though.
Just received my recall notice to re-program the SBC software... (or, more accurately, firmware). Just think, I'll be able to tell my grandchildren that I actually had one of those Mercedes with SBC which they abandoned after they found it was an expensive implementation which conferred no practical benefit and cost a fortune to manufacture and maintain.
