Hi! I'm hoping someone here can advise me. I currently have a 94 C220 that is about to die 185k, rattles when I turn it on and the AC works 60% of the time. I love it but I think I should get something newer. I'm also hoping that if I get something with fewer miles it will mean lower maintenance cost. I found a 2003SL55 AMG with 70k miles for $11,000 or a 2011 E350 cabriolet with 57k miles for $13,000. The E350 is salvaged but it was just the passenger side door, they fixed it. I also think I would sell either one once I get to 94k miles to buy an electric car. Which one do you think will be more reliable?

More reliable? E350 by a long shot, but fun factor, SL55 by a longer shot. Two completely different cars

the M113k motor (sl55) is a motor that should be talked about in the highest reverence! maybe it doens't get the best MPG but to be an owner of one of thes legendary motors is a blessing bestowed on some of the luckiest. That said you mention you can get a 2003 sl55 for 11K? another gift!

You are kind of all over the place here and they very different cars in every way. So get $500 for your old W202. Will this E or SL be a daily driver? Or a weekend toy? If it is a daily driver I would just get a E Class. If you want it for a weekend toy then get the SL55 and have some real fun and get the EV as a daily beater. Maybe look into a B Electric as those are SUPER cheap now a days.
