Hello, new member here. Just purchased an 05 SL55 that had the trunk closure issue. Wouldn't close reliably but would if consumer battery was unhooked/reset. I took out the latch mechanism looking for the obvious cracks to epoxy but didn't see any cracks to fill so reinstalled as I was running out of time and wanted to do this DIY at a later time. Now the trunk locks "almost" closed but won't open unless I use the key in the remote, turn it counter clockwise in the keyhole while simultaneously pulling on the trunk latch. Can get it open but again won't close all the way. When I do close it, it gets stuck in the locked almost-close position and again requires the key-turn/latch press maneuver to open. Any suggestions as to why it went from bad to worse? I can hear the mechanism trying to operate but still won't latch appropriately just halfway in the stuck position.
