The Top Speed of the SL 65 For Real
Like I had wrote before I had just purchased a new SL 65 AMG. Well today I went out to the local drag strip (Las Vegas Motorspeedway) and i put in a VBOX so i could easily measure 0-60 times and 70-0 braking footage. So guys this thing does 0-60 in 3.9 secondes, 4.2 is when you dont try and control the car you just let it shread rubber, and it did the quarter mile in 11. 34 secondes. the 70-0 braking footage was 107 feet. It pulled .96 g's on the skidpag. But really the hightlight was when we were running aroud the road course and I truned off the ESC, this car's tires around the corner would turn in to ***** of smoke. The top speed on the car was 180, but I called the guy at the dealer in the service department and he said for a little bit of money he can easily take the governer off of it to make the car easily reach speed of 200mph. So I was happy about that. So guys if you own or get to drive a Sl 65, take it out to a place where you can open up that V12 Bi-Turbo
Why would you use a Vbox or whatever if you were at the drag strip where they have the capability to give you accurate times? The AMG CL/SL65 engines can run 0-60 in 3.7 sec all day long. Also, you need alot of room like an airstrip to reach 180, not a drag strip.

So, just tell you something - I received my SL65 three weeks ago - see my posting regarding the SL65 ...... (including pictures). Maybe I am not a technical expert, but I got told at AMG Affalterbach, that to delimit the speed of 250 km/h I have to drive to Germany, and they will do this; otherwise you will loose the warranty! As well they only "open" the car up to 300 km/h. AND it is not only a "software-switch" which you have to remove !
kind regards from France

We should test this theory.

Well I don't know how fast he might have ultimately gone if he had more shuttle landing runway available, but 212+mph in 2.3 miles ain't bad in my book! Note: he needed a half mile to come to a stop!!
