SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: ABC Suspension Strut Replacement Dealer Issues...
I spoke to a third party MB repair shop (the tech spent 14 years in NYC working on AMG and V12 cars) he stated that they should have replaced the filter (part 003-184-6101) and because they didn't it likely caused damage to the pump and other parts of the system resulting in the current problem.
I've found bulletins online and they all mention replacing the filter when flushing the system:

Can anyone verify this as I am not looking forward to repair bill the dealership quoted me if this is in fact their fault for not replacing the filter when flushing the system.
Thanks for you help guys!

I believe another problem is that a filter in poor condition probably can not cause damage to the system.
Another factor against you is time. Since several months have elapsed, the dealer likely will reply that there was time for a lot of things to happen in that period which were detrimental to the pump.
By the way, my local independent could have done this repair for under $2000. That includes parts and labor.
