SL55 with P030 and Designo - is it possible?
Hi fellas,
I'm regularly watching BaT for new SL vehicles and recently I started looking for a late model (like 2007 or about) SL55 just because there are much more SL55 available for sale than SL65.
I like P030 package and I really like Designo package because of the exclusive leather. I tried to find a late model SL55 which have both options but I couldn't find any.
I wonder if such SL55 cars even exist? Idk if you could order a late model SL55 with both P030 and Designo options. Please tell if it was possible or if you had to select only one of those options?
Thanks in advance!

As late models are already harder to find, and 030 even harder to find on an 07+, one with all three is going to be very rare if at all available. I’m sure it’s a possibility, but would be for sale at a much higher price then getting an 07 with 030 and doing a full custom interior

Sounds like your priorities are just P030 and Designo. SL55 or SL65 won’t matter I guess unless you have a engine preference. Me personally I would just find a super clean SL55. A mint one is hard enough to find.

I thought SL55 may sound better because V8 and may be a bit cheaper to maintain (coil packs and overall less components) and is easier to buy. But it seems finding late model SL55 with both packages is much harder than finding SL65.

I just wanted to point out that P30 on sl is close to a scam as performance wise you can get 99% of the suspension effect just by programming and not pay 14.000$ for it

Only the front bumper is different, rear and sides should be the same. The most important thing on that P30 package is the massive front brakes and the LSD in the rear

Drive one without and you'll know. My E63 has P030 with the LSD, my SL63 does not. The E63 is much more willing to rotate in corners under power than the SL63, which just wants to make the traction control go nuts. It makes the E63 feel more nimble than the smaller SL63. At some point I'll add one to the SL, it's a worthwhile upgrade.

Custom LSD and P30 suspension programming on any 2006+ SL with ABC 2 is much better the MB LSD is far to under blocking
then brakes is another story but can also be done much better than the MB P30

Yes they are hard to find, one of our members ( Vlad Vasak )has compiled a spreadsheet of all the 06-08 SL55 with the P30 option from the factory I under stand that the total amount is about 40 cars and I think mine is the only one in teal blue. If you can't find the list I'll search my computer for a copy.

Additional options are...
Interior - I have added a magnetic mount for my phone at the center dash HVAC outlets and a magnetic mount for a custom media player that I have both can be removed without leaving any markings.
I have 2 sets of wheels that get rotated from time to time (always have a fresh set of tires on them and fresh batteries for the tire pressure sensors)
I also have 2 sets of identical seats that get rotated to remove any soiling and rejuvenate the leather.
The much firmer "Nurnburg Ring" suspension gives it a much more sports car like feel to drive compared to cars that don't have the P30 option.

No Designo but outside it has the accent silver outside mirror covers and door handles to which I have added the color matching silver front grill.

PS: I wonder if such SL55 even exists which has both Designo interior and P30?

P30 Cooling adaptation?
Hi
I drive my SL55 in sunny Arizona and am always looking for ways to dissipate heat. The P30 package had a oil-cooler in the passenger wheel well behind the front wheel (in the vent).
Has anyone seen a supply house with that oil cooler (or an appropriate sized water HE) that I can order and stick in there?
Thanks!
Dave
2004 SL55, mildly tuned.
