Hello everyone. I need some help, tips, or advice on removing the lower oil pan from my SL55. The pan is cracked and in need of repair. I have dropped the subframe a few inches and the car is on jackstands. I have removed all the bolts (that im aware of) from the lower pan. The problem I am currently having is getting my pry bar and flatheads in between the upper and lower oil pan. It is an extremely tight fit and my few attempts have slightly banged up the aluminum. I stopped because I do not want to damage the mating surfaces. My question is, is there a designated pry location or a location to screw in a bolt that will split the halves? What am i missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best regards and wishing everybody happy holidays and a much needed happy new year!

Just removed the oil pan. For anyone doing this in the future, there is a section on the driverside toward the left corner that has a pry section. I dont know how I missed it the first time around but it is basically two tabs that extend out. One is from the lower pan and the other from the upper pan. Once i got the two sections to pry slightly, i ran a flat head screw driver along the pan to break the remaining seal. Didnt even have to use a heat gun. Hopes this helps someone someday.
