I’m the second owner of a 2014 SL 63 AMG. I purchased it a year ago with 20,000 miles and no ABC issues. Last week I took it in for A2 service and the dealership found both rear shocks leaking! $8.200 repair estimate! They agreed this is an extreme case of premature failure and offered to reduce labor by $1000 and call MBUSA for assistance with remanufactured shocks. MBUSA refused any assistance and said the dealership offer was good enough. WTF? No surprise that the BBB in Georgia has them rated a “F” for poor to no customer service and lack of response to complaints.
Has anyone else had any issues with ABC system or components failure with extremely low miles?
You should be able to replace both rear struts with rebuilt exchange units or $2 grand installed. I did both front for that number at independent shop in Seattle.
I have a 2005 SL 55 with 32,000 miles and had a single rear ABC failure. Went to My Mercedes Place in Cumming, GA. For under $600.00 they replaced the faulty shock. They have serviced our BMW's and my SL with excellent to superior service. Check them out and walk away from our local MB dealers!
