So I ordered an additional key for my 2004 E55 over the summer which has keyless go, Key came in already programed ready to go and everything worked on it.. fast forward to last week ordered an additional key for my 2004 SL55 which also has keyless go and the key came in all black which I do not want. I wasn’t even aware that Mercedes still manufactured this key. So my question is has anyone ordered a chrome style keyless go fob from dealership successfully? And if not what was your experience if they told you only key available was black key fob?

Weekend bump…Come on guys there’s no way I’m the only one who ordered an additional key fob from dealer lol… hopefully we get more traffic on here on the weekends

 

I ordered one about a year ago for a 2007 and it was chrome.

 

You can buy a cover, they come in various colors, and it will hide whatever you don't like about the black one. Did it for both my SL55 keys.

Also is yours keyless go?

 

I think so. You get in and push the start/stop button on the shifter.

 

Ok this is good news, can you possibly look at your invoice if you still have it and get the part number? This is at least a lead. Should look similar to The pic I’ve attached if you’re not familiar with part numbers. Thanks

The key K-GO (key fob) # was: 230-905-07-39-9999
Invoice date was October 20, 2020

 

Thank you for getting that info. I replied via email also. I’m just about to go down to dealership see if they can do anything for me. I’ll report back shortly. I’m very surprised this specific subject has not been discussed on here.
