R230 - Glove box light question
Hello
1. Using a thermal imaging camera. I have finally tracked down the battery drain in my 2004 SL55 AMG to a glove box light that does not switch off. Can confirm that the glove box light does not have a separate fuse associated with it......and therefore the 'pulling fuses' individually to find a battery draw method will not work?
2. Having now removed the glove box light (part no. A203 820 10 01) I can now see why it was on constantly, and why I couldn't find the switch - the lever (part no. A2306890061 ) had become detached. Is it true that Mercedes now make this part out of metal - can anyone verify?
3. I'm intrigued by the operation of this light. The small blue micro switch does not as one might expect, switch the light on and off (at least not on my car). Rather, it appears that the lever which has fallen off simply breaks the metal contact in a rudimentary way.
If I'm not mistaken, the glove box light is only supposed to come on when the ignition is on. I presume the blue micro switch send a signal to the computer to let it know that the glove box is open. Can anyone verify that?
Hoping someone get shed some light...

I dont know if it is powered off when the ign is "off"
That doesnt make sense. You should still be able to get glove box light at other times. It may be on a delay with other accessories.
Try the center box or the overhead console lights, see it they still operate

Thanks for your comment. Good point - I suppose I can easily test when the glove box light gets power and see if this holds true for the central console lights. I suspect the over head lights might work differently. Mike
