Revert from SLS BS motor mounts to OE AMG mm?
Hi guys,
Quick question. I put SLS black series motor mounts on my 2009 SL63 IWC with 25k miles a couple of years ago due to them being stiffer than the AMG OE motor mounts and have since only put a thousand miles or so on them. I had read they would ultimately perform better, translating a bit more power to the drivetrain, but giving me a bit more vibration (which doesn't bother me). Now, my car was in at the dealer to put in a new pulsation dampener, and the tech said he noticed vibration from chasis. They would cover putting in a new full set of mounts for me.
I still have 6 months left on my extended warranty and my question for the forum is: Should I have them put back on a new full set of AMG motor mounts free of charge, or keep the SLS mounts on?
Thanks!

Stiffer motor mounts only translate to increased drivetrain vibrations to the chassis, not more appreciable power to the rear wheels in a street driven car. Solid or rigid mounts limit the engine torque twist, but also transmit any drivetrain vibration to the chassis. If your r230 is a drag or road racing car, stick with rigid or solid mounts. Street driven, stick with oem style mounts.

Makes sense. Thank you. I remember now reading an FCP blog on "upgrading" to the SLS BS mounts and thought it was a good idea a couple of years ago. I've been overseas and away from my vehicle for a while and I was trying to recall! I do notice more vibration in the cabin, especially at higher revs.
