SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: SL55 Gas Mileage

I get 25.8 mpg (Imperial) overall, in varied driving, on my 2003 SL55 AMG. Mind you, I keep it on "W" setting, start off in 2nd. gear, and only occasionally give it full throttle.
It's just such a perfect car; it can be a *****cat most of the time, but turns into a tiger on comand!

SL55 AMG
city driving alone = 16 or so mpg ...mixed = 18 or 19 mpg; hwy cruising = 21-22 mpg ... I've gotten as high as around 24 on hwy but it was a long trip and I was behaiving![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
what's funny is that when in mixed condtions or city (or even hwy) it doesn't matter much if you punch it fairly often or only from time to time; it still averages out around the same mpg; what really kills the mpg are the short trips no matter how you drive on those.

Only time I've really recorded fuel mileage was when I drove the car 2200 miles in the 3 days following purchase. Went through the Rockies and the Appalachians, as well as 'downhill' through the Great Plains. Most driving was at 80+, (with 2 or 3 excursions into 3 numbers when passing a string of cars, or going uphill), Slow in a few road construction places and areas around cities. 85% freeways. I got 21-2 mpg during that trip.

SL55 AMG
Trying to survive in a drownin' world bro. Trying to sell my SL55 AMG...dealing with all the tirekickers and lowballers is frustrating. I've reduced to $32K for the car, it's got a ton of money in mods too. Love the car only reason for selling is after taking delivery of my Aston Martin DB9 I finally realized no point in 2 front engine GT cars...I'm loosing my shirt on the Benz but I'm trying to reduce my number of cars so it has to go, reluctantly.
