Has anyone installed/purchased AMG door lock pins

I saw these in a pic somewhere. They looked very nice. Does anyone know how to purchase these out of AMG in Germany?

Well actually I do know how to fit them.

It is a case of, remove the door panel, unscrew the plastic one, then screw the Chromium one into place, then replace the door panel.

If you repeat this operation on the other door, 'Presto' New door pins.

The actual problem is where to start with the door panel removal, and in what sequence to continue !

The door trim removal procedure is described in the R230 CDs you see on ebay. Most of all, you need a "plastic wedge" which is what Mercedes use to remove trim panels without marring them but the plastic studs always seem vulnerable and it's best to have a handful of replacements to hand.

They are the door locking knobs which emerge from the door when you unlock the car. These ones are chrome and are engraved with the AMG logo and should be fitted with it on the outside, towards the door glass.

Part number / door lock pins

hello everybody

I ordered the AMG door lock pins to be installed at Affalterbach - when I have to visit them ( V-Max delimitation )

Part no: HWA1407600141 - "SICHERUNGSKNOPF" @ 35 Euros
installation = 35 Euros each.

total costs 140 Euros

IMPORTANT !! If you install this by yourself - do NOT forget to mark the position of the old pin ! Otherwise it will not look good - when you install the panel. (pin is higher or lower than original )

kind regards from France

Walter

edit: should have looked on the second page before posting, sorry !!

You can find ......

Hello Vivid

You can order them at your local DC-MB Dealer with the "HWA-Number" or directly in Germany at a AMG Shop/Dealer. You can send me as well a PM and I can forward you a good adress (AMG Centre).

Kind regards

Walter

In typical fashion my local dealership here drew a complete blank with the part #'s. Why am I not surprised at the response...always friggin useless when you want an AMG part, bar the door sills amazingly!

There's apparent a separate AMG importer that my mate in sales knows and I asked him to get him to do something with the part #'s, ie go back to the factory with them...

Ok I couldn't get any luck with this part # here in Oz. Thinking that was our typically poor cousin Mercedes part database, I have a relative visiting Switzerland and emailed this part # to them. My intial thoughts were should be a piece of cake and if the dealer struggles with it for some reason, they could just pick up the phone and call Munich. Well, so much for that idea, I am now told that the part# is somehow incomplete and they want my chassis # etc. etc. This is the last email response:

" The dealer says he needs the chassis number and any other model numbers so that the factory can locate the part. At present they say with the existing number that there may be some numbers missing? I thought the Germans were smart!"

So what's the problem if 2 people here have ordered it. Do I have to go and supply the chassis # when this is a AMG non-specific SL55 part! WTF?

Anyone..

Hello OZ

The part number is the correct one - be sure about this. AMG Affalterbach indicated this number on my invoice. I told you in a previous post, I can offer you a solution - but do not want to forward the adress of my dealer in here - cause it could cause misunderstanding (advertising)

kind regards

Walter

Ps.: you could order them directly, pay by CC - and shipping by mail.

Walter thanks for confirming the part #. I really don't need an alternative solution, just a way of working out how my relative can order the part. Surely, if you can order it so easily in France, it should be as easy if not easier in German speaking Switzerland, with the dealer able to communicate directly with Munich for the item. Is there any other info that the dealer should be stating when asking for the part ie. Affalterbach. Perhaps they are not stating that it enough, despite my 2nd email which was forwarded that stated the following:

"It's an AMG series Mercedes part, they may have to look in the Mercedes AMG accessory catalog. It won't come up as general spare part, only the original ones will. If the Mercedes agent talks to Germany they will be able to use the part number. The exact German part description is : Part no: HWA1407600141 - "SICHERUNGSKNOPF" cost 35 Euros.
here's a photo of it so they know what it looks like."

This kind think really freaks me out when it should be so straight forward and you spoon feed the info to someone...

My experience too is that MB dealers do not know anything about AMG parts - I had the same problems with the illuminated door sills. Mind you, talking to Munich might not help much, I doubt that BMW know much about them either. Best to call AMG in Affalterbach directly.

Don't know how Walter managed to order from them direct and pay by CC, they wouldn't deal with me at all, just pointed me at a dealer and so I went round in circles.

I know BMW are based in Munich, so I'm not sure why I was told the local MB dealer was calling Munich. Anyway, now that I know Affalterbach is the location of AMG (Still a MB newbie in some ways!), I will direct them to do that, sure it that will help them track the part.

Thanks

When I Google translate 'SICHERUNGSKNOPF' German to English I get 'FUSE BUTTON'.

p/n 1407600341 -'Sperrknopf' is a OE 'LOCKING KNOB' from FRONT DOORS>CLOSING SYSTEM

Yes, but when I lock my car door in Germany do I do it with a 'fuse button' or a 'locking knob'?
