OMG!!!!!SL65 AMG\Kleemann 739 HORSES!!

These are statements for the respective tuners websites

VATH V60 EVO Biturbo
Hubraum / Displacement: 5.921 ccm
Leistung / Power: 526 kW = 718 PS / hp
Drehmoment / Torque: 1120 Nm (begrenzt auf / limited at 1000 Nm)
Höchstgeschwindigkeit / Vmax: 340 km/h (elektr. begrenzt / limited
Kraftstoffart / Fuel: Super Plus (98 Oktan)

SL65 AMG-
Rated output kW(hp) at 1/min 450 (612) / 4800-5100
Rated torque Nm at 1/min 1000* / 2000-4000
Acceleration 0 - 100 km/h s 4,2
Top track speed km/h 250
(electronically governed) 21,7
Without limiter - 330km/h

Brabus - BRABUS SV 12 Biturbo increased capacity engine, 640 hp / 471 kW, 1,026 Nm from 1.750 rpm, 310 km/h (electronically limited)

Kleeman-
V12 6.0
For the powerful 6,0 litre V12 AMG engine KLEEMANN offers a ECU tuning programme that ads 127 Hp and 300 Nm of power output to the cars already incredible performance figures. The ECU performance kit is available for the SL 65 AMG, CL 65 AMG and the S 65 AMG.

Engine Stock KLEEMANN
V12 6.0 Biturbo Power (Hp) Torque (Nm) Power (Hp) Torque (Nm)
Stage 1 612 1000 739 1300

Its numbers are more than those of a Ferrari Enzo........ 739hp oh my god!!!!!!!! I think this is the best of all.

So Kleemann tunes the SL 65 AMG V12 6.0 engine and from 612hp it brings put 739hp. It`s just unbelievable. Does someone in here owns an SL65 AMG Kleemannly tuned??? and if yes........what is the TOP SPEED???? is it more than the Vath 340km/h??? The best place to live this Kleemann is at NARDO ITALY!!!

Carlsson -
Motor - CK 55 RS (export)
cm3 - 5439
kW(PS)/min-1 - 426(580)/6100
Drehmoment(Nm)/Torque(Nm) 880/2600

http://www.renntechmercedes.com/pdf/R230.pdf

SL65 AMG
Stock Horsepower: 604 @ 5500RPM Stock Torque: 738 lbs.-ft. @ 2000-3000
Total BHP - 650
Total Lbs.-ft. 840

But what are the numbers for the Newtonmetres, horsepower and (Kw) and also the most important.......what is the 0-100 and its top speed???

SO a Mercedes-Benz can be tuned by :

AMG
BRABUS
CARLSSON
KLEEMANN
LORINSER (i dont think they offer engine upgrades)
VATH
RENNTECH

What do you think is the best brand from all the 7 listed???? And which of them is the most expensive to deal with???? I think that AMG (without limiters) and Carlsson are the 2 that satisfy me both aesthetically (being a European like me.....I don`t like Lorinser) and also as power is concerned?

Don't forget MKB, started by one of the orginal AMG dudes.

They don't list anything for the SL65 but I am sure they are working on something, they are always slow to change and update their website.

SL65 tuning.... ?

good evening Sir's

PLEASE dont try to tune up the engine ! Try to reduce the weight of this "tank" ....

Only removing these original seats (electric, massage, cooling) should gain 80 kg ! (on EACH side - so therefore 160 kg / 320 lbs) ...

AND on the top of it - noboday could tell you, that you're loosing warranty cause you changed the seats in the car .... hehe...... BUT it is defenetely a difference if you use the "standard" power for 2.000 kg or 1840 kg ! AND on the top of it - it is CHEAPER .... 2 Recaro Carbon seats @ 1650 € - compared to an engine upgrade/tuning ....

Just some idea to increase performance ....

kind regards from France

Walter

You are serious - 80kg each? Dropping 350 lbs (not 320 - 1 kg == 2.2 lbs) would be an incredible performance & handling gain, even if the replacement seats were 20 lbs each.

... and of course if one combines that with a HP and TQ increase... Recaro, you said?

Hello Treynor

Yes, I am serious, cause I was thinking about to build a trackday car on base of a SL55... Therefore some people with experience in this field, started from the scratch, and presented some figures at the end. Btw... a Recaro carbon race seat is only 4,5 kg. ~ 10 lbs..

kind regards from France

'05 SL 55 Black/Black w/mods from Eurocharged/Kleemann/BuckheadImports
Thumbs up Also

There is also alot more someone could do to lower the weight of the new SL's. For instance, you could replace the hood, trunk, mirrors, and possibly doors with lightweight carbon fiber replacements. I know of one place that can do this, but I don't know about where you guys live, I'm sure though that someone will fabricate it for you guys. that right there should drop another couple hundred pounds easily ... then put in ultra lightweight racing seats like you already said, put in very lightweight wheels (Kleemann TS-6 or HRE's, or some other exotic magnesium/titanium/aluminum alloy combinations to drop the unsprung weight to a very low level, drop in carbon ceramic brakes to even further drop unsprung weight, and right there you'll drop the SL 65 a freakin' 1,000 lbs. !!!

Seriously, also I wonder how much weight would be dropped if the SL could be converted to a permanent hard top coupe with a carbon roof and take out all the hydraulics, electronics, etc.. for the convertible roof ... just make the car a dedicated coupe ... sort of a CSL version of the SL 65 ... and that combined with a derestricted full headers-back exhaust system (which would even further drop weight !!!), very wide tires (doesn't Michelin now make a 355 width tire by 21" diameter? They made it for the Veyron and supposedly it can withstand that gargantuan car's weight easily to over 252 MPH, so it should easily handle the SL 65's weight and speed and power. Combine all this with the lighter weight and the Kleemann SL 65 engine upgrades and what you'll have is one of the fastest German street legal cars ever to hit the road ... period.

Treynor ... I'm sure some of these tantalizing tactics might be appealing to you ... I'm sure we'd all love to see you do some of this or all of this to your SL 65 and then see how much faster those time slips will be !!!

By the way Treynor .... when do you think we'll be able to see some videos with sound of your Kleemann-tuned SL 65? I would love to see and hear that baby roar and smoke all the other cars on the street ..... thanks .....

Hello SL65amg

This was my intention as well - just to fix the roof, exit all this hydraulic stuff.... BUT, then the balance of the car (weight on front/rear axle) is not really excellent. When you gain 150 kg on the rear axle - you should do the same on the front !

All this weight problem, and balancing the car in the right proportion - forced me to go for another trackday car. (I know trackday car's is not the topic - sorry members) - anyway I would not use a SL65 or SL600 for this - cause the engine is a little bit too heavy, and the SL55 engine is powerful enough, with lot of reserves, to do such a job.

kind regards from France

Well then, I am serious about getting a pair for my car. I had assumed the seats were 50 lbs each, which is already a lot. 175 lbs each is a very different matter, and makes it easily worth while to jettison the stock seats in favor of some lightweight but comfortable versions.

Walter - do you know who makes the bracketry required to fit a Recaro into the SL65?

Hello Treynor

These "conversion" was offered by Carlsson in Germany - and if you want I can assist you to get in touch with these people, I know them good enough to recommend them.

kind regards

Walter,
Thanks, and I may take you up on that offer I'm going to pull one of the seats from my SL65 and get a weight measurement before starting the project.

Kleemann exagerates their gains ,at least on their website.
The real gain is about 50-60hp for the 65 series.

those seats don't quite weigh 80kg's each. I have removed them many times on various cars and I would have a broken back if they were 80kg's.
