Important to look at the belts while running, see that they ride perfectly on the pulleys and don't look like they're misaligned. The big pulley at the bottom, crank pulley, has a molded rubber insert that can deform after 20 years and lots of miles, causing belts to not ride correctly. That crank pulley cost over $700 from MBZ. Luckily I shopped the world over and found one from a Benz dealership for $495 and the bolt needs to be new also, that cost about $29. Any time you have your belts off check ALL pulleys for wear signs, including the water pump!!! Mine, the bearings in the water pump were like a gravel road. Feels great knowing my water pump is a brand new Bosch.
