Thought some of you might like to know this little bit of info. Tuesday, I installed a special set of Designo carbon fiber bits to replace the wood in a client's SL 65. These pieces were sent to the dealership I work at by MBUSA specifically for this gentleman. Rumor has it, he didn't have to pay any extra for the parts. If any of you folks feel you might be interested in something like this, I would call MBUSA. Maybe you can get a set for your R230 also. He also asked me to remove all badging except for the stars, and it made the car look almost discreet, yet very wicked at the same time(key word almost).

I tried to exchange the original silver aluminium trim parts of my SL65 - when visiting AMG Affalterbach. Unfortunately they did not have the parts on stock - and they offered me a price of 2.300 € for those

NOTHING is free at AMG ....

Hello Ricky
"off topic on"
I got my M3 CSL delivered by truck on Tuesday evening directly from Germany (M-GmbH Munich). It's not a new car, preveous owner was working there - cause there are no new cars available.
I tried very hard to get one of the C55 with Performance Package from Affalterbach, but they do not deliever outside Germany (because of homologation issues
)
After the first miles driven in the neighborhood with my new toy - I have to admit it was not such a bad choice at all (compared to the C55, I tested). Anyway I only need this car for a few trackdays here in France - cause to use the SL65 for this is just a sin. The M3 will be sent to a tuner in Germany beginning of 2005 to prepare it for this issues. (brakes, suspension, cage, seats, etc... ).
Will keep you posted - if there is some interest in a MB Forum ....
kind regards
Walter
Ps: The numberplates on the BMW are from my "friendly" MB dealer in here - he gave them to me for the first weeks, until I finish the paperwork with the import..

I could not justify $950 for the carbon fiber trim ![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Walter, I would be more then interested in viewing the progress of all of your cars. I have a special soft spot in my heart for the M3csl and X5, but no other BMW.

Two very nice cars there in my opinion Walter, I hope they will be added to your future website too. I'm sure the M3 will be much better suited to the track, maybe not as comfortable as the SL, but greater fun. In the meantime, I would be interested to know a little of the modifications being done to the CSL.

Hello Twinturbo
It is nice to go on a trackday with the SL but on the long run - a car, which is prepared for this events is much better. As well there is a difference in handling (weight). Second big difference is the price - if I would crash the SL, I would start to cry....
Upgrades for the CSL will be brakes, suspension, rollcage, seats, 4/6point saftey belt, seats, Exhause, racecats ... the list will be completed by a German tuner, cause I by myself can not do all this - so the car will be picked up in January for a two weeks "holiday".
Of course I will put as well the CSL on my webpage - whenever this work is done by the second team of webdesigners. (the first ones already failed
)
nice Christmas holidays to @ of you

Carbon Fiber Interior Parts
Hi, I noticed your post on Christmas almost a couple of years ago. I have a 2006 SL65 and I am thinking about changing the burled wood to carbon fiber. Can I ask where you obtained your kit? Sounded like a good deal. Thanks, John (JMH65)

Carbon trim for SL
Hello everybody
Its a long time, since I posted in here - sorry for this
I purchased my Carbon trim from a company near "Affalterbach" (http://km-manufaktur.de/index.php) and you can imagine why they are next to AMG ? Total cost have been around 900 € - and this are the original parts!
![](http://img458.imageshack.us/img458/8548/dsc00279cc5.jpg)
As well, there have been some news on my vehicles, one red car added ... As written "some time ago" - the BMW was completely stripped, and converted to a 24h racecar. So see the result (sorry for OT) in the attached pic.

kind regards from Paris

The carbon looks great!! As do the CSL mods.
I can't seem to find the link to order from KM...I guess my German is a bit weak.
What I would really like to get is the steering wheel and paddles from the performance package.

just go there ( http://km-manufaktur.de/kontakt.php) and fill in the form. I am sure, they speak English as well. If you have some troubles - just write a PM to me - and I will do my best, to help you.
For the Steering and the paddles - this parts you only get at a AMG dealer - fortunately I am as well member of AMG Owners Club, and one of our directors is working in an AMG centre. So tell me your VIN - and what you're looking for - I can organise the transport by Fedex to the United States.
Hope this will help you a little bit.
Kind regards from Paris

Thanks for your offer, Walter, I have actually been in France many times, my wife used to live there for 15 years. I'll send you PM on Nov 17-18 to see if we can meet. I used to know that cozy russian restaurant by Eifel tower, wonder if it's still open.
