BMC filter for SL55? Any info appreciated
HI:
I can't find an application on the BMC website for SL55..only SL500.
Are the filters the same for both SL500 and SL55? Thanks

With only 3 post and since most NEWBIES do tend to post more than one of the same topic, its not unusual to see so im telling you. If you want to continue to to talk ****, go head, it only makes you a less of a person. Also, you also had to email me? You must not have a life whatsoever.
I hope you get no help whatsoever *******.

2004 SL55 AMG
Guys, please stop the jealous insinuations about owning an SL55 nor animosity about one post or 2 or quality of feedback. Many other, more important events in this world worth sharing the dialogue and thoughts over right?
Anyways, NWSL55, I've used K&N filters or BMCs in all of my vehicles and sportbikes, track and street, past and present. I find K&Ns add ~1%-2% HP MAX measurable rear wheels, depending on RPM and road speed, especially for non-naturally-aspirated engines with Twin-turbos or Super-chargers. I've never had a problem with K&N filters in regards to fouling M.A.F. sensors, negative effects, or worse performance with proper oiling and cleaning over time. We may see ~5HP with twin filters on a stock SL55 (also slightly more intake snarl which is nice), more with ECU upgrades and other performance mods although the with/or without filter is not measurable seat-of-the-pants. Check out many of the ricer racing mags or articles online which usually run actual dynos of STOCK vs. BMC/K&N filter vs. CAI on four-bangers. These enthusiasts love to invest time and details on relatively minute, measurable gains, yet the write-ups are interesting to read and learn about.
In regards to BMC, I don't recall seeing an application for our SL55 AMG when I was looking at the time (there is one for the SL500: 262-01) and I don't see it now on their website or from a distributor. K&N does offer the filter part#: 33-2859 @ ~ $41.15 x 2 for the SL55. The SL500 uses a different K&N part# of 33-2181 for about the same price.

I'm pretty sure the BMCs just come the one SL spec. Note on their application guide there is only one model code used for all SL models. They probably just haven't updated the site to include 55s. Mine were supplied with my chip and pulley package.
