SL65 Rear Differential Lubricant?
Took my car in for it's 1000-3000 mile service which called for replacement of the rear differential lubricant and naturally my dealer didn't have the proper lubricant. Anyone know exactly what it calls for and where it can be obtained? Thanks...

I had the same problem a couple of months ago. MBUSA did not have it in stock then either. It had to be ordered from AMG in Germany. I think Treynor's dealership had it in stock when he went in for his service.
I know my dealer tried to source it from BMW as well as run the part number down everywhere with no luck. Then they were told that it would come from Germany.
You would think by now they would have a stockpile in the US.
Good luck!

LSD Oil ...
Hello Ron
Hello Schiznick
Unfortunately I have no idea about, which oil they put in the differential of my car - but they changed it after the first 2000 km. Even here in France, the dealer has to order this stuff from Germany according the WIS System.
But some good news - about all this ! I will receive my "additional manual SL65 " within the next days ... then I can give you all the information you are asking
...(not to mention that they ask for 35€ for this... - of course it can not be free of charge, cause the car is a bargain already
)
Maybe YOU, guys in the States will get this free of charge
???
kind regards
Walter

Scott - thanks to your heads up, I checked with my dealer and they actually did NOT have the diff fluid in stock. It's currently on order, and I'll be taking my SL65 back in once it arrives.
You'd think the stuff was made of spotted owl extract or something, it's so rare...

As for the oil, it must be very special to be so rare, high operating temperature?

My dealership's service manager called to say Mercedes and the dealership are embarassed by the fact that they have a car like the SL65 that calls for a service requirement and no one knows the type of lubricant or where to get it. He said he would have more info in a couple of days.
