SL63 options to have top speed over 155?
I was looking at an SL63, and the owner said he had it up to 180mph or so, but the car is supposed to be stock.
Assuming the owner was correct, what options are there to get the limiter removed? It doesn't have the performance package.
Can you get the limiter removed through MB somehow without the performance package, or does this mean the car had a tune at some point?

Better yet, you drive and let him be the passenger.
I'd check the tires out carefully.... that and bet he hasn't had it going 180. Not too many places a person can run a car 180mph safely.
Kleeman, Brabus, RENNtech (pretty sure there are a couple others) all remove the speed limiter when you tune them.

Tuning
Well, mine has the Performance Package and is supposed to be about 175.... I understand with a good ECU tune the horses can be raised to about 700hp and torq to about 830... and with this tune the top end limits are removed. I plan to do this in the near future and will find out particulars. Alpha and Weistec both offer this tune.

Any SL63 with PP has the top speed limit set to 186mph. So this is legit if the car is an older year and has the Performance package
The newer models have the PP as a default and all have the 186mph limit by default AFAIK

186mph is stock with the performance package and you can get the limiter removed on a non PP car with a 15 minute ECU tune. Lots of people do ECU tunes, but my tuner raised my numbers beyond my expectations for half of what many others charge. I'm happy to provide his info if anyone wants it. Two weekends ago I was following a tuned c63 at 180mph on the way to the airstrip attack that you can see in a video I just posted. We only slowed down as there was traffic ahead (mind you this is near coalinga airport at 5am in the middle of the desert) My car officially hit the 1/2 mile on a slow roll start at 148.76 and was pulling hard.
