AMG SL63 2013 what type of oil should I use?
I rented this car and I need to top the oil off. Is it okay to use any brand and do I use 5w-40 or 0w-40. I am in Washington DC.

??? You can buy 0W-40 or 5W-40, even Mobil 1, almost anywhere that sells oil. At least, everywhere I've been...

Well, I hope I didn't speak out of turn. In the Milwaukee area, there are auto parts stores, farm supply stores, etc. everywhere that all carry any kind of oil you'd want. I'm now in the Atlanta area and have not shopped for motor oil here, so maybe I shouldn't be so sure about finding 5W-40 everywhere.

Mobile 1 Formula M 5w-40 + extra info
Explanation about oil from mobile 1's site:
What do the numbers in 5W-40 mean?
The numbers refer to the weight and thickness, or viscosity, of the oil.
Motor oil gets thicker when it’s cold and thinner when it heats up.
The first number indicates the viscosity of the oil at a cold temperature, and the second number indicates the viscosity at operating temperatures.

Yes, the first number ("W", for "winter") is the viscosity of the oil at 0 degrees F, while the second number is the viscosity at 212 degrees F.

I changed mine just like the dealer does......with suction oil evacuator ( harbor freight sells a similar one) and replaced the oil filter I bought from pelican parts....all in all the oil filter was 20 bucks and oil is what ever you want to pay. I went with a brand that guarantees the oil and filter for about 20 k so once a yr change.....took all of 30 min and save couple hundred bucks from the dealer doing it.....I have over 60 k and need a fuel filter change and think I will let the dealer do it, and I have the wheel package and the wheels need touching up so off to the dealer I go....I got 0w-40 from napa auto parts.....yes they are selling …..wait for it ….amsoil now..!!
