Facelift SL65 production numbers? (USA)

I have one of the four Polar White 2017's shipped to the US. It has the Designo Platinum White interior. The other car in the showroom I looked at was one of the two metallic Selenite Gray 2018's. It had the Designo Classic Red interior. In retrospect I should have bought them both because my wife is still complaining she does not have her own convertible.

Three of the 4 Polar White 2017 SL65s were shipped to the US. So you have one of 3 of that paint color in the US.
There was only one SL65 produced worldwide in 2017 with your color combo:
Total of [1] SL65s produced in model year [2017] with Codes:
149U POLAR WHITEX30 DESIGNO PLATINUM WHITE SINGLE-COLOR LEATHER

I'm having trouble figuring out the dividing line between 2016 (pre-facelift) and 2017 (facelift) models. You would think there'd be a clear code for the facelift change, but there's not one that I can find.
Some codes I think were added starting with the 2017 model year are:
16U SMARTPHONE INTEGRATION APPLE CARPLAY
17U SMARTPHONE INTEGRATION ANDROID AUTO
269 BRAKE ASSIST PLUS CROSS TRAFFIC (BAS+Q)
641 DYNAMIC LED HEADLAMPS, LEFT-HAND TRAFFIC
642 DYNAMIC LED HEADLAMPS, RIGHT-HAND TRAFFIC
B59 TRANSMISSION MODE SELECTOR LEVER (AGILITY SELECT)
Just not sure if any of those were introduced in late 2016 model year. It leaves 7 vehicles up in the air as to whether they're 2016 or 2017.:
WDD2314791F037692 GERMANY
WDD2314791F039957 JAPAN
WDD2314791F040044 GERMANY
WDD2314791F041065 JAPAN
WDD2314791F042030 GERMANY
WDD2314791F043070 SWITZERLAND
WDD2314792F042039 REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA
UPDATE: After comparing headlights on pre-facelift and facelift SLs it's pretty clear that SLs with the LED headlight option have to be facelift. I'll "promote" the 7 cars in question to 2017. which will update the counts for 2016 and 2017.

The R231 SL65 production counts reports posted earlier have been updated to reflect the move of a few 2016s to 2017.
@Quadrobenz Your SL is still the only one of that color combo for 2017. No change there. As an update, I checked all other years - you have the only R231 SL65 with that color combo ever produced.

I knew it was uncommon, but did not suspect it was the only one! Thanks!!!

Everything is untouched factory original. There was a third SL65 at the dealer I did not mention. It was white with a non designo light tan interior. I wanted the designo interior. The third one had the exterior trim blackout package, to my eye it did not work so well on the white car.

Idk, I'm pretty sure I saw one of those at a local CarMax just a few days ago....

X27 LEATHER DESIGNO PORCELAIN SINGLE-COLOR
X30 DESIGNO PLATINUM WHITE SINGLE-COLOR LEATHER
X46 DESIGNO DEEP WHITE SINGLE-COLOR LEATHER
I think PORCELAIN is the most common white interior you'll see.

There were three different "white" interiors available for the 2017/2018 AMG SL's. First, the Designo Platinum White that I have is the purest of the whites and matches the Polar White exterior. Next, the Designo Deep White is several shades darker and closely matches the Designo Diamond White exterior paint. The base white color of those two paints is a lot different, we had one of each side by side in the garage for four years. Finally, the Porcelain White is a non-designo leather package. It is the darkest of the whites, heavily towards beige.

Incredible thread with amazing information! I always wondered how many SL65’s are around because you just do not see them. R230 I have been around but never a R231.

Just now finished pulling in all R230 SL65 data. Some interesting tidbits for the R230 SL65:
- The first R230 SL65 was delivered in 2005, though there were 2 built in 2004 designated as "Factory Sales"
- There was a total of 3043 R230 SL65s delivered over years 2005 through 2011, none were delivered in 2012
- There was a total of 402 Black Series SL65s delivered over years 2008 thru 2011.

Thanks Joe.
I had two SL65 R230 - one was a NZ new I think it was a 2005 and the other a UK import 2006. Great cars but prefer my R231 - no issues after 3 months of ownership.
I knew the Black Series was more than the 350 units the factory stated - about another 52 is a lot!
Great data as always.
Regards
Paul

Here's a new report that may be of interest. It provides counts of every exterior/interior combination broken down by model year for the SL65. It includes all years of both R230 and R231. Needless to say, it's a long report but fairly easy to navigate. It's sorted by the exterior paint, interior options, and then model year with counts for each year. It also accounts for vehicles that have 'X' codes, which mostly seem to indicate 2-tone interiors.

I finally have what I consider to be the ultimate stats report for an SL65. Given a VIN or FIN this simple report provides most of the interesting stats on the car on a single page.
It wasn't entirely simple from a database query standpoint, but I did some of that sort of work in a prior life and it was fun to recall some of it.
The attached examples are for my SL65 and an example of a 2013 45th Anniversary Edition that sold on BaT about 2 years ago for $155K. The report will work on any SL65 built - both R230 and R231.
PM me with your VIN or FIN if you'd like a copy for your SL65.
Update: PM will not allow me to send attachments. Please make your request on this thread and I will respond here with your report attached.
