Interior rear view mirror trim removal
Has anyone removed the trim that fits to the windshield behind the interior rear-view mirror? I am trying to hardwire my radar detector into my 2013 SL63 AMG that I just purchased

Please make sure you do not twist the mirror too much when installing. If the mirror twists over 90 degrees, it could break the bolt the mirror attaches to. The bolt the mirror attaches to is glued to the windshield and you can only replace it by getting a new windshield (don't ask how I know...).
I was trying to run a wire for a dash cam from one side of the car and a microphone from an aftermarket CarPlay unit form the other side.

Sorry to hear about the windshield that you heard about that needed replaced! I will heed your advice and be very careful. Were you able to successfully install your wiring? I am hoping to find a hot and ground wire on the plugs inside that housing for my radar detector.
