SLK/R170: Brakes and Dings and Sparkplugs
I need to replace my brake pads. This is the first time I've had to do it, and I'm probably going to take it to an independent shop. The original pads served me well, so I was thinking I would just get the same ones. Unless folks have other, better suggestions?
Second, my gas mileage has taken a real hit lately. I'm thinking I may need to replace the sparkplugs (I already changed the air filter, and the mileage didn't bounce back). My car has 45K and about 5 years on the original sparkplugs. Does it sound like it's time for new ones?
Also, is anyone familiar with those "dent/ding wizard" services? I am thinking of having a small ding on my door removed via that method. Does it work? Can it cause any problems or complications that might screw up the paint? (the paint is not broken from the ding, but I've noticed that the paint on my slk is really delicate in general.)
Thanks!

If the plugs are going, your idle will suffer first. I put iridium plugs in it at 92k miles, and it idled a tad better, the old plugs were not iridium as I thought 100k mile plugs had to be, they were bosch 3 prong platinums.
my dealer had an in-house contractor tht looked over every car that came in as it drove up, and did a sales pitch on the little dents and dings... ask your dealer... they woudl know the guys withthe most benzo experience, which is important when trying to get the tools behind the body panels I think...
