2001 SLK320, 6-speed, black, two-tone black/tan interior.

My car failed inspection

I had a 2001 SLK320 delivered on Friday and took it for inspection on Tuesday. The car failed the Emissions portion. The printout on the report said the ODB wasn't ready. Guy doing the testing told me this is common on Mercedes and that I should drive it for a couple of weeks logging some miles and then bring it back. He says the ODB should reset itself. Something about if the car sits a long time or the battery is replaced the ODB has problems. I called Mercedes and they said that if the problem continues I am still under warranty. I guess I'm just curious. Anyone else out there have something similar happen to them during inspection? Do you think the inspection guy knows what he's talking about? Just curious. Thanks.

I would have the dealership look at it until it comes back to being ready. It should learn and reset in the first 10 to 50 miles or after a few drive cycles.
