Rear-View Mirror Defect

Well, it looks like my 2001 has finally developed that auto-dim defect that others have mentioned.

The inside mirror has now developed a bubble in the active fluid inside the front glass, which some have described as the "lava lamp" look.

I will have to visit the dealer and see if the Starmark extended warranty covers it.

I had the same problem on my '99. Starmark covered it. Mine started leaking this black goo-like liquid.

I was told my Mercedes extended warranty does not cover the dimming mirrors. Mine was the outside one and I got a piece of regular mirror cut to replace it. Works great! And only $15 instead of the $400 or so they wanted for the dimming kind.
