2001 SLK 320 , 1970 Chevelle SS
slk 320 panic button not working
I've got a 2001 slk 320. when you hold the panic button down the lights flash, but the horns dont seem to work. I just bought the car. Is there something im doing wrong?

Try arming the alarm and opening the door to see if the horn works. Try the horn manually. You should only have to hold the panic button for greater than one second to get both lights and horn activation.

My '99 uses a separate audio device for the alarm, not the horn. It is very loud. Yes, just use the remote to lock the vehicle, wait a bit (there is an activation delay), then try opening a door or the glove box.
Search on PSE (a module in the trunk); that would be my bet for the problem.

My 2002 SLK320 doesn't use the horn when the alarm system is armed or diarmed or even if it goes off. It has a siren that makes all the noise. Is your siren unplugged?
If you want it to make noise when you arm the alarm, have the dealership program the alarm module to go in the "Netherlands" mode.
