Problems with Roof - 2000 SLK230

Gurus

Please provide some guidance!!

The 2 plastic tabs that retracts via springs are getting stuck when i am lowering the roof. They are not 'flattening out' as they should be.
See picture 1. As a result of this the roof will hit collide with the main plastic piece when the roof is lowering.

I found that the reason the plastic tabs are not retracting is because
the springs (see picture 2) are not recoiling. It seems that the springs
have lost their elasticity. There is one spring on each tab - so both springs
are bad in my case.

Any idea how major this fix is gonna be? I can open the roof if i stop
half way and manually push the 2 tabs down by hand and continue
that way.

Closing the roof isnt an issue. Your advice is appreciated.
