98 SLK - Inside door pull attachment?

Hi Guys

The pull handle on my inside drivers door is loose, like a screw has backed off. This is the top of the handle location, between the door tweeter and the door opening handle/lever. I tried to pry apart the handle itself as it looks like it "splits" in the middle but it won't budge. Is there a screw on the inside that I can tighten if this handle is seperated, or do I have to remove the entire door panel and get to a screw from the inside? Thx, Mark

Have to remove panel Carefully!

Pop off the door handle cover from bottom, 2 screws in there.
1 under the SRS badge. (pull out)
2 torx or cross head holding the metal end cover on the end of the door.
1 screw at the "C" shaped trim around the door latch.
Then gently pry up the panel around the edges to pop out the plastic pins.
Then pull the panel straight up.
Disconnect the cable at the door handle.
Think thats it.

May need to glue bits back on with contact adhesive if they pull off panel etc.

The door pull is 2 pieces. The cover can be removed with a flat screw driver in a slot at the lower edge. You have to pull hard and it will feel like you are goign to break it. The 2 parts are clipped together and there are screws under the outer part that hold the pull to the door.

Hey, thanks very much for this info. I thought this handle came apart, but the force I was using was gouging the plastic and the thing just was not budging. I'll try again. Someone on another forum told me you had to remove door panel and get this screw from the backside......sounded wrong.

You have to get the door pull apart to get to the screw that holds the door panel on.
