SLK/R170: Wheel offset question
Im looking at a set of wheels for an '02 slk. The wheels are 18 x 8" front and 18 x 9" rears. Front offset is +36, rears are +30. I just wanted to see if I would be able to run these without rubbing. Anyone running similar width/offset wheels?
thanks,
Matt

7.5x18ET37
8.5x18ET34
which fit perfectly on my C55 W203
I also have been checking if these rims can also fit my friend's SLK230 R170. Based on a AMG stock rims bible I am reading, they will also be best fit for R170!
Your 8" front is 0.5 inch wider than my 7.5 stock and offset 36 is not too much different from my 37. So it means your front rim will come out a little say 1.3cm than go inside. So it won't rub.
Your 9" rear is also 0.5 inch wider than my 8.5 stock and offset is 30 and mine is 34, so again, your rear rims will come out ~1.3+0.4cm=1.7cm rather than go inside. So it should not rub.
Anyone , pls correct me if I am wrong.

With those specs you could safely run 225/40 or even a 235/40 front, and in the rear you could SAFELY go all they way to a 265/35 tire.
Good Luck. Omar.
